PROPUESTA ARTÍSTICA:
LO QUE ME GUSTA HACER
Estoy en el mundo de la creación visual porque me da la oportunidad de descubrir y desarrollar nuevos espacios de vida. Son espacios muy variados: me divierten, me cuestionan, me expanden; son espacios en donde investigo mis creencias, mis contradicciones, mis cambios, mi crecimiento y que en esencia: crean conciencia en mi.
Hago este trabajo porque me motiva la búsqueda del equilibrio entre el orden y el caos, lo que percibo como belleza. El arte es un juego emocionante lleno de sorpresas. Se vuelven visibles mis viajes, mi curiosidad e interés por el mundo animal, vegetal, mineral, el cosmos, el mundo microscópico, la ciencia, la historia, la música, la literatura el cine, y sobretodo, las personas en los distintos lugares del planeta, su diversidad y a la vez todo eso que nos hace uno. El vínculo de vibración entre mis mundos interiores y mis mundos exteriores, esa energía, ese invisible sistema nervioso que les conecta, aunque sea de manera metafórica, aparece ahí retratado. Y a veces, hay momentos en los que el espacio se vuelve misterio y magia y me envuelve en aprecio y gratitud por lo que es.
Creo obras porque estas “me crean” a mi. Las comparto porque también hablan a otros.

• 1988-1989. Art Institute of Chicago, EEUU (beca Fullbright) Post-Baccalaureate Studio Certificate.
• 1987-1988. Saint Martin School of Arts, Londres, Inglaterra (beca British Council) Diploma in Advanced Painting.
• 1979-1986. Universidad Central del Ecuador: Facultad de Bellas Artes. Quito. Licenciatura en Artes Plásticas, especialidad pintura y escultura.

STATEMENT:
WHAT I LIKE TO DO
I am in the world of the visual arts because it gives me the opportunity of discovering and developing new spaces of life. In them I find the fun, the questions, the expansion and the possibility of exploring my beliefs, my contradictions, my changes and growth. Essentially, they create consciousness in me.
This type of work motivates me to find the balance between chaos and order, that which I feel as beauty. Art is a thrilling game of surprises. My reality becomes visible: my trips, my curiosity and interest in the animal, vegetable and mineral world, the cosmos, the microscopic world, science, music, film, literature, and especially people from all corners in the planet, our diversity and at the same time what makes us one. Even if only in a metaphorical way, everything is portrayed in this process of linking the vibrations of my inner with my outer worlds, the same energy runs through that invisible nervous system that connects them. And now and again, there are moments when that space becomes mysterious and magical and it surrounds me with appreciation and gratitude for what is.
I create art because “it creates” me. I share it because it also reaches to others.
